EVENTS
SUNDOWNERS
 |
The new Riverbank
provides some wonderful grassed lawns ideal for a welcoming cocktail
party. You will look actoss the northern parklands along the River Torrens, over the
famous Adelaide Oval with its statue of our most famous cricket
resident, Sir Donald Bradman, to St Peter's Cathedral.
It is a
wonderful way to get your sense of location together. This first
evening is designed specifically to give you a chance to make
contact with friends and relatives. Take notes along to pop into the
bulletin boards to let people you want to contact them and let them know where you are
staying. We will have a welcome to Adelaide speech from a local
dignitary, as well as a face or two you'll probably recognise - then
some information on the happenings in the Parklands tomorrow.
As the
party ends, there will be coaches waiting to take you to your
accommodation - or you can decide to make your own way home later in
the evening.

SILLY'N'SERIOUS
SPORTS ...

|
In the south-east
corner of Adelaide is a comprehensive collection of sporting
facilities - most of them used by the private schools surrounding
the parklands.
We have negotiated to use these for one day - so
there are hockey, rugger and soccer pitches, as well as cricket
ovals, tennis courts and facilities for volleyball, croquet, petanque etc.
By giving us details of your last year
at school and which schools you attended, we'll be able to put
together PE/St Georges or Townsend / Evelyn matches for example - all graded
according to your antiquity!
If you feel it is unlikely you might
play hockey, be warned - you may! If you are feeling
geriatric - you may only have to touch a ball to score a goal. All
will be fair! Of course if you are still in your twenties - well
that's different! There'll be forfeits and awards galore. You'll be
able to feed your family from the range of food stalls set out
around the parklands. Another good chance to meet up with old mates.

| MAKULU BRAAI

Coaches will pick us
all up for the 2 hour drive to Mannum - a traditional riverboat
town, on a great bend in the Murray River.
Here you will find all
the ingredients which make up a great Aussie barbeque and we hope to
have you bush dancing, listening to folk tales, joining in a sing
song and floating serenely up the Murray in a luxury houseboat.
BBQ
packs will be for sale as well as numerous arts and crafts and
things Australian. We should return to the city by about 5'30 - so
you' ll have a chance to get together and go out on the town, or
whatever you feel like.

There couldn't be a
much more Aussie setting than the Old Ram Shed
- but this is a Zimbo
night full of nostalgia - and full of people who share the same
ideas and come from the same place.
We're not going to give away too
much, but DJ's and entertainers from the past, music from the past
and present, from smanje manje to tickie draai with a healthy dose
of pop thrown in, will give you the chance to dance the night away
till the wee small hours - if you so desire!
